Background of the Study

Stakeholder engagement is a critical aspect of corporate governance, ensuring that organizations address the interests and concerns of diverse groups, including shareholders, employees, customers, and regulatory bodies. Effective engagement strategies foster transparency, build trust, and enhance decision-making processes (Okafor & Adamu, 2023).

In Jigawa State, corporate organizations operate in a dynamic environment where stakeholder expectations are influenced by cultural, economic, and regulatory factors. While stakeholder engagement is acknowledged as a governance priority, questions remain about the adequacy and effectiveness of strategies employed by organizations in the state.

Statement of the Problem

Despite the recognition of stakeholder engagement as a cornerstone of good governance, many organizations in Jigawa State struggle with inadequate communication, lack of transparency, and limited stakeholder participation. These shortcomings have led to conflicts, reduced stakeholder trust, and impaired organizational performance (Yusuf & Bello, 2024). There is a need for a detailed appraisal of stakeholder engagement strategies to identify gaps and recommend improvements.

  1. To assess the stakeholder engagement strategies employed by corporate organizations in Jigawa State.

  2. To evaluate the effectiveness of these strategies in promoting transparency and trust.

  3. To identify challenges faced by organizations in implementing stakeholder engagement initiatives.

  2. How effective are these strategies in promoting transparency and stakeholder trust?

  3. What challenges hinder the successful implementation of stakeholder engagement strategies?

  2. Effective engagement strategies build stakeholder trust and improve organizational performance.

  3. Challenges in stakeholder engagement negatively impact governance outcomes in Jigawa State.

Scope and Limitations of the Study

This study focuses on corporate organizations in Jigawa State, appraising their stakeholder engagement strategies and the associated challenges. Limitations may include restricted access to internal organizational policies and the potential bias of stakeholders during interviews or surveys.
